What we collect

We only collect the information we need to run the marketplace safely and fairly:

• Account details: your name, email address and phone number.
• Listing content: descriptions, photos, prices and vehicle fitment data you add when selling a part.
• Verification data (verified profiles only): if you choose to become a verified seller, you may be asked to submit an identity document for verification. We do not store this document ourselves — see the section below.

How ID verification works

When you submit an ID for verification, the document and related details are passed directly to our third-party verification provider, VerifyNow, at the moment of verification. We do not store the ID document or your ID number in our own database.

Once VerifyNow returns a result, only the outcome — a verified or not-verified badge status — is retained on your OnePart profile. The underlying document and ID number are not kept by us.

Purpose limitation

ID data is used solely to confirm that the account belongs to a real, named individual. It is not used for marketing, credit checks, profiling, or any other purpose.

Your rights under POPIA

As a data subject, you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
• Request deletion of your account and personal information, where the law allows.

Because we do not store your ID document or ID number, we cannot delete something we do not hold. You may also contact VerifyNow directly about data they processed on our behalf.

Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data such as your name, email, phone number and listings are removed or anonymised within 30 days, unless we are required by law to keep it longer (for example, tax or fraud-prevention records).

POPIA requires every organisation that processes personal information to have a designated Information Officer. Our Information Officer can be reached at:

Third-party processors

We use trusted third parties to process certain data:

• VerifyNow — handles ID verification. They process your ID document and number on our behalf and have their own privacy policy.
• Paystack / Payfast — process payments when you buy or sell on the platform. They receive payment-related information only and have their own privacy policies.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these providers directly.

Breach notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users and the Information Regulator in line with POPIA requirements.
